Michelle Perez is an illustrator and painter based out of New York City. She specializes in figurative portraits and dark pin ups.
Michelle creates vivid imagery using vibrant palettes and striking female subjects, inspired by all things dark and mysterious. An auto-didactic artist, she works mainly in inks and acrylic. Her work and style range from darkly melancholic inks to vividly intense illustrations. Currently she illustrates freelance and is now focusing on painting.
My work tends to focus on the female portraiture exploring themes of fantasy, futuristic cyberpunk and unnatural beauty. The subjects have a cold demeanor, feel distant and exist in lonely spaces of time. My girls are usually adorned in leather, which symbolizes a personal idea of armor and their inability to feel another’s touch. Although their doll-like faces exude a somber frailty, the women I depict are never damsels in distress. They are strong, mysterious characters, with an air of danger to them.
