Yulissa Cortinas is a self taught contemporary artist based in Dallas Texas.
Her work is but an analogy, influenced primarily by the reflective perspective of past and present lived moments, now memories. Her work explores the way emotion manipulates the body and expresses itself through physical movements, gestures, and overall actions. The battle between hopelessness and failure, strength and vulnerability is a theme found throughout her work. Her work started with mediums such as graphite, charcoal and watercolor along with some acrylic. Her experimentation with oil paint as well developed into her now using it as her primary medium in which she now paints with and carries such theme and ideas.
